Business consulting that actually changes things

We work with owner-managed Scottish businesses, typically between 10 and 200 staff. Our job is to find the specific problems slowing your growth, then help you solve them. Not with a 90-page report that gathers dust, but with decisions you can act on this month.

Four weeks from confusion to a clear plan

Most engagements follow this shape. We adapt the detail, never the discipline.

1

Week one: listening

We interview your leadership team, review your financials from the past 24 months, and walk through daily operations. No questionnaires. We sit with your people, watch what actually happens, and ask uncomfortable questions early so we don't waste time later.

2

Week two: diagnosis

We identify the two or three constraints holding the business back. Sometimes it is pricing. Sometimes it is a process bottleneck in fulfilment. Occasionally the issue is structural: the wrong people in the wrong seats. We name it plainly and show you the evidence.

3

Week three: options

You receive a short document with costed alternatives. Each option includes a realistic timeline, the resources required, and the likely financial impact over 12 months. We present trade-offs honestly rather than recommending the most expensive path.

4

Week four: decision and first actions

We facilitate a half-day session with your team to choose a direction and assign ownership. You leave with a 90-day action plan, named leads on every task, and a fortnightly check-in schedule. Implementation support is available if you want it, but you are never locked in.

What we do

Click any area to see the detail.

We build 12-month growth plans grounded in your actual margins, not aspirational targets pulled from thin air. This includes market sizing for new segments, pricing analysis against three to five direct competitors, and channel-by-channel acquisition cost modelling. If expansion requires capital, we prepare investor-ready projections that stand up to scrutiny.
We map your end-to-end workflows, time each step, and identify where effort is being wasted. A typical finding: 15 to 25 hours per week lost to manual data re-entry between disconnected systems. We recommend specific tools, draft the implementation sequence, and stay involved through the first 30 days of change to make sure the new process sticks.
Cash flow problems are rarely about revenue. They are about timing, terms, and cost structure. We renegotiate supplier terms, restructure payment cycles, and build rolling 13-week cash flow forecasts so you can see trouble eight weeks before it arrives. For businesses carrying debt, we model repayment scenarios and negotiate with lenders on your behalf.
When a business grows past 30 staff, the founder's instinct alone cannot hold everything together. We design reporting structures, define role boundaries, and coach senior managers through the shift from doing to directing. This work typically runs over eight to twelve weeks, with weekly one-hour coaching sessions and a mid-point team review.

Questions we hear often

If yours is not here, ask us directly.

A diagnostic engagement (the four-week process described above) is a fixed fee between £4,500 and £8,000 depending on company size. Implementation support is priced monthly. We quote a specific number before any work begins, and we do not bill for overruns caused by our own underestimation.
Occasionally. Most of our clients are based in Scotland because proximity matters during the diagnostic phase. We have worked with businesses in the north of England and Northern Ireland where travel was practical. Fully remote engagements are possible for operational efficiency projects where on-site observation is less critical.
Construction, professional services, food and drink manufacturing, and technology companies make up about 80% of our client base. The remaining 20% is varied. We are selective about taking on sectors where we lack relevant benchmarks, and we will tell you upfront if we think another adviser would serve you better.
No. We work alongside your existing advisers. Your accountant handles compliance and tax; we focus on commercial decision-making and operational change. In practice, we often collaborate directly with your accountant to ensure our financial projections align with your reported figures.
Some clients run with the plan independently. Others keep us on a retained basis for quarterly reviews and ad-hoc advisory. A typical retainer is one day per month. There is no minimum commitment beyond the initial diagnostic, and either party can end the relationship with 30 days' notice.
